The LOTHIAN DISABILITY BADMINTON CLUB was established on 19th February 2008 and has experienced continued growth and development since then. The club has members with a mix of ability, age and disability. The club is open to players with a physical or learning disability who want to play badminton. Ages range from 12 years and upwards to as old as still fit to play!

The club and players are affiliated to Badminton Scotland. Lothian Disability Badminton Club became the first club to achieve the Shuttlemark award in the Lothian area and the 20th club in Scotland to sign up to Badminton Scotland’s accreditation scheme. The club has acchieved the bronze mark, silver mark and signed the SIDC(Shuttlemark Inclusive Disibility Charter). For more information on this click on the bronze club image below.

The club welcomes both social and competitive players of all ages. Some members enjoy the social side of playing while others have achieved considerable sucess at various events across Scotland, UK Parabadmintont Championships, Special Olympics Events and at international level.

The club is fully accessible. All you need is a pair of trainers and we can provide rackets, shuttles and sports wheelchairs if required. So why not come along and give it a try.

Annual membership is £25.00 then you pay either £4 or £5 per session depending on which session you attend.

The club has two geographical sections:

Musselburgh Sports Centre

Tuesday 6.30pm-7.30pm for junior and new players with a physical or additional support needs for learning cost £4.00 per session.

6.30pm – 8.30pm for players with a physical disability or players with additional support needs for learning cost £5.00 per session.

Bathgate Academy

Wednesday 6pm-8pm for players with additional support needs for learning cost £5.00 per session.

Both sections welcome those new to the sport as well as experienced players, providing the necessary opportunities to learn new skills and improve on existing ones in a relaxed and supportive environment. Qualified and experienced coaches are present at both clubs, together with volunteer helpers.
