Age- 18(2017)
Section- Musselburgh

I joined the club on 1st August 2009
after I heard about the club through an athletics event and I thought it sounded fun.

The things I enjoy most about the club is playing against people with all different kinds of disabilities and it will make me more confident at sport.

My future goals and wishes are first of all to be happy and healthy and secondly to continue to be involved in disability sports for as long as possible.

18 years old, I started playing badminton at the age of 12 when I was at school. I instantly enjoyed the game, it helped me with my balance and fitness. I joined the club after attending the East Lothion Disability Festival where the club were out in support. I had great fun that day and decided I should go along to the club.

The club is great, everyone was and still is so friendly, I have learnt a lot and play as much as I want to..sometimes too much as my body aches the next day!!!!The Coaches are great and help me a lot. My aim is to get better and to maybe play in a few competitions as well as continuing to help at the new section with the junior players. I would like to take my coaching awards at some point to.

Colin Leslie (Standing Lower - SL3)

IMG_1805.JPGI started playing badminton at a very young age as both parents used to play, and I continued playing until I had my accident more than 11 years ago.

My favourite memory as a player has as to be European Disability Badminton Championships, Germany 2012, 105 players from 18 countries and Scotland coming home with gold and 2 bronzes.

The thing I most enjoy about the club, apart from the great training and coaching I get, is getting to meet and socialise with such a great group of people.

My dream, if Badminton is in the 2020 Paralympics, is to be selected and to come back with gold medal in the doubles.
